Welcome to my Knitz, Knotz and Nutz blog!
I am a 40 something year old, Mom of 2 wonderful furbabies, Boots, my old lady, she is somewhere between 14 - 16 years old. We rescued her 9 years ago on Friday, June 17.That was the day we closed on our house. This is a recent picture of Boots, my old lady.
We don't know what she is, maybe Lab and Chow or Shar pei. I picked her up from the home where she was at and took her to the vet. She was dirty, very skinny, (only 35#) and scared to death of the car. She went to the house after her Vet visit and bath. I wanted her to get use to the house before we moved in with the cats. 9 years later, the cats have all passed away and now we have her and a Pit Bull named.... Morgan.
And this is Morgan Now....
Ok, I could go on and on about my Nutz, ie my babies, but I also want to share some of my knitting with y'all. Eventually I will be able to share all my Knitz, but for now, let me show you just some of the more recent things that I have done.
As if you couldn't tell, I love all things PURPLE! Blues and Teals are cool, and maybe some occasional green or pink, but mostly Purple. I have been knitting and crocheting for many years, 20 some for crocheting and I don't remember when I learned how to knit. I know that between my Mom and the Girl Scouts, I learned. I taught myself how to crochet about 17-19 years ago, and started knitting again about 4 years ago. I have crocheted many afghans, approx. 15 or so, and have knitting baby blankets and Sack Socks (a hanging bag that holds those pesky plastic bags from the grocery store). I knit socks- Love to knit socks. I will be learning how to do stranded or Fair Isle knitting on socks come this August. Ooooh, I can't wait!
My latest obsession is Lace! Not sure why, (I tend to be a hot body) but I am in the mode of knitting shawls and scarves. Let me tell you, there are TONS of patterns out there, one better than the other.
I am working on Citron. It is a free pattern from knitty.com. You can find it here Citron.
This is the start.....
I love the yarn that I chose for this. It is a 4ply cotton, simply soft. I will definitely do a gauge swatch next time I do this pattern. This shawl is only supposed to be 5 repeats, I am on number 8 and it is just starting to be large enough to cover my shoulders..... so much for hurry up and start! LOL
My LYS is having a contest, using sock yarn, create something other than socks. So, I have at least 3 shawls planned, not sure how many would actually get finished. I have until August to finish and submit them to the LYS so here's to timelines......
I think that will be all for now, I guess this just might work out after all.....
